ALLAH’S CHALLENGE CONCERNING HIS BOOK BY KHIDR AMARI

Challenges disbelievers to produce a Surah like it (the Qur’an):

Allah says,

“And if you are in doubt about what We have sent down upon Our Servant, then produce a surah the like thereof and call upon your witnesses other than Allah , if you should be truthful. But if you do not – and you will never be able to – then fear the Fire, whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers. ” 2/23-24

The Qur’an confirms earlier revelations and challenges disbelievers to produce a Surah like the Qur’an:

“Now this Qur’an could not possibly have been devised by anyone save God: nay indeed, it confirms the truth of whatever there still remains of earlier revelations and clearly spells out the revelation-let there be no doubt about it-from the Sustainer of all the worlds. Or do they say, “He invented it?” Say, “Then bring forth a surah like it and call upon whomever you can besides Allah , if you should be truthful.” 10/37-38

Challenges us to reflect on the Qur’an had it been from any other they would have found many ikh’tilafan (contradictions) in it:

“Then do they not reflect upon the Qur’an? If it had been from [any] other than Allah , they would have found within it much ikh’tilāfan (contradiction).” 4/82

Challenges us to understand the qawla (this word):

“Have they, then, never tried to understand qawla (this word)? Or has there come to them something that never came to their forefathers of old?” 23/68

Challenges us to ponder over the ayats:

“(It is) a Book We have revealed to you abounding in good that they may ponder over its verses, and that those endowed with understanding may be mindful.” 38/29

“Will they not, then, ponder over this Qur’an? – or are there locks upon their hearts?” 47/24

Challenges those who said the Prophet Muhammad invented it then produce ten Surahs like the Qur’an:

“Or do they say, “He invented it”? Say, “Then bring ten surahs like it that have been invented and call upon [for assistance] whomever you can besides Allah , if you should be truthful. And if they do not respond to you – then know that the Qur’an was revealed with the knowledge of Allah and that there is no deity except Him. Then, would you [not] be Muslims?” 11/13-14

Challenges disbelievers to produce a Hadith like the Qur’an:

“Let them produce biḥadīthin (a hadith) like this, if they are truthful.” 52/34

If any book would be revealed to the mountains that would have the mountains would be removed and the earth would be broken a part along with the dead would be made to speak it would be the Qur’an:

“And if there was any qur’an by which the mountains would be removed or the earth would be broken apart or the dead would be made to speak, but to Allah belongs the affair entirely. Then have those who believed not accepted that had Allah willed, He would have guided the people, all of them? And those who disbelieve do not cease to be struck, for what they have done, by calamity – or it will descend near their home – until there comes the promise of Allah . Indeed, Allah does not fail in [His] promise.” 13/31

Recite the Qur’an at dawn that is always witnessed:

“So perform the regular prayers in the period from the time the sun is past its zenith till the darkness of the night, and [recite] the Quran at dawn- dawn recitation is always witnessed.” 17/78

If the sea was ink writing the words of Allah the sea would be exhausted:

“Say, “If the sea were ink for [writing] the words of my Lord, the sea would be exhausted before the words of my Lord were exhausted, even if We brought the like of it as a supplement.” 18/109

Challenges others to bring a scripture from Allah that could be more guiding than either the Qur’an or the Torah:

“Say, “Then bring a scripture from Allah which is more guiding than either of them that I may follow it, if you should be truthful. But if they do not respond to you – then know that they only follow their [own] desires. And who is more astray than one who follows his desire without guidance from Allah ? Indeed, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.” 28/49-50

If the trees was pens and the sea was ink backed by seven more seas the words of Allah would not be exhausted:

“And if whatever trees upon the earth were pens and the sea [was ink], replenished thereafter by seven [more] seas, the words of Allah would not be exhausted. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.” 31/27

If the Qur’an was sent to a mountain the mountain would fall a part from fear of Allah:

“If We had sent down this Qur’an upon a mountain, you would have seen it humbled and coming apart from fear of Allah. And these examples We present to the people that perhaps they will give thought.” 59/21
