The word DAROOD is not Arabic. The word SALAWAAT is Arabic. It is usually believed that if we read SALAWAAT on Prophet Muhammad for a certain number of times, our sins will be forgiven, so on and so forth.
If we see the Quran, we come to know that it is not only human beings who are to do SALAWAAT but God, His angels as well as the Prophet also do SALAWAAT on human beings.
Now Let us see what does the Quran says about Salawaat:
GOD’S SALAWAAT ON HUMAN BEINGS.
2:156 The ones who, when afflicted with adversity, they say: “We are to God and to Him we will return.”
2:157 “For those there will be Closeness/Attachment (Salawaat) from their lord and a mercy, they are the guided ones.”
The above verse clearly indicates that SALAWAAT can also be on human beings from God.
Now does this mean that God reads for a certain time SALAWAAT on people?
2- MESSENGER’S SALAWAAT FOR HUMAN BEINGS.
9:103 “Take from their money a charity (Sadaqatan) to purify them and develop them with it, and you remain attach/follow closely (Salli) over to them (Alaihim) Your Closeness/Attachment (Salawaat) is a tranquility for them; and God is Hearer, Knowledgeable.”
In the above verse God has ordered Muhammad to do SALAWAAT on human beings. Does this mean that Muhammad reads SALAWAAT on people for a certain number of times?
3- GOD’S AND HIS ANGELS’ SALAWAAT ON HUMAN BEINGS.
33:43 “He is the One who remain attach/follow closely (Yusalli) Over to you (Alaikum), along with His angels, to bring you out of darkness and into the light. And He is ever Merciful towards the believers.”
In the above verse God and His angels do SALAWAAT on Believers. Does this mean that God and His angels reads SALAWAAT on people for a certain number of times?
4- SALAWAAT OF HUMAN BEINGS FOR THE MESSENGER.
9:99 “And from the Arabs are those who believe in God and the Last Day, and he looks upon what he spends to make him closer to God, and Closeness/Attachment (Salawaati) of the Messenger (Ar Rasool). It indeed makes them closer. God will admit them in His mercy; God is Forgiving, Merciful.”
The above verse explains the concept of SALAWAAT by describing “Spending” as a means of “Closeness/Attachment”.
