17:21 See how We have preferred (In Provision) some of them over the others; and in the Hereafter are greater levels, and greater preference.
6:165 And He is the One who made you inheritors on the earth, and He raised some of you over others in grades, to test you with what He had given you. Your Lord is swift to punishment, and He is Forgiving, Merciful.
43:32 Is it they who assign the mercy of your Lord? We have assigned their share in this worldly life, and We raised some of them above others in ranks, so that they would take one another in service. The mercy from your Lord is far better than that which they amass.
SPEND BEFORE THE JUDGMENT DAY
2:254 O you who believe, spend from what We have provided for you before a Day comes when there is no trade, nor friendship, nor intercession; and the rejecters are the wicked.
14:31 Say to My servants who believe, that they should hold the Salat, and spend from what provisions We granted them secretly and openly, before a Day comes when there is no trade therein, nor will there be any friends.
WEALTH SHOULD NOT BE ACCUMULATED BUT CIRCULATED
Wealth is to serve useful purposes and not to be accumulated in a few hands “that it may not concentrate and circulate only among those of you who are rich.” Quran 59:7
“In their wealth there is due share acknowledged by them for such as who ask (for help) and such as are deprived (of what is good in the life).” Quran 70:24-25, 51:19
HOW MUCH TO SPEND?
“They ask you what they should spend. Say: ‘The Surplus.” Quran 2:219
I.e., give surplus money to benefit the poor, needy and homeless.
WHAT IS SURPLUS?
Once legitimate needs have been filled at a modest scale – no extravagancy is permitted (Q2:143, 17:26-27) – the rest is surplus. One should not suffer from poverty, nor indulge in luxury.
“You cannot attain to righteousness unless you spend on others of what you love.” Quran 3:92
SPEND IN THE CAUSE OF ALLAH
57:10 And why do you not SPEND IN THE CAUSE OF ALLAH, when Allah possesses all wealth in the heavens and the earth? Not equal among you are those who spent before the victory and fought. They attained a greater rank than those who spent after the victory and fought. And for each, Allah promises goodness. And Allah is Expert in everything you do.
47:38 Here you are being invited TO SPEND IN THE CAUSE OF ALLAH, but some among you turn stingy. And whoever is stingy is only being stingy on himself. And Allah is the Rich, while you are the poor. And if you turn away, He will substitute another people instead of you, then they will not be like you.
