EATING 7 DATES CAN CURE POISON

Though dates possess certain medicinal properties, curing poison and dispelling magic are not the benefits.

Narrated Sa`d:

I heard Allah’s Messenger saying, “Whoever takes seven ‘Ajwa dates in the morning will not be effected by magic or poison on that day.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 5779

Vol. 7, Book 71, Hadith 671

One Response to EATING 7 DATES CAN CURE POISON

  1. Muhammad Hafez says:

“They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” (KJV, Mark 16:18)

**Context is critical**. The word ‘summ’ in arabic also means toxins. This hadith is in reference to toxins in the body, which can be cleared from the body by eating these first thing in the morning, or:
“The ‘ajwah dates of al-‘Aliya taken as the first thing in the morning, in the state of fasting; contain healing for all (kinds of) magic or toxins.” (Musnad Ahmad, Hadith 23592)
    or
“He who has a morning meal of seven ‘ajwa dates will not suffer harm that day through toxins or MAGIC.” (Bukhari, Hadith 5327 and Muslim, Hadith 3814) Magic is my next point.
“Sihr”, known as *magic* in english – “it changes health and soundness to disease” (see E.W. Lane’s Lexicon Book I p.1316). Dates may cause this change in health and soundness to disease, in which magic is referred to. Evil-eye, or hasad, is also known to be another form of dark ‘magic’.
